Palmetto Paintball - 01-27-2007

2007-01-27 -- A few of us are going to check it out... Good grub after at Old South in Camden.

Directions : I20 towards Florence. At camden exit - take HW521 away from camden, and go around 15.2 miles. Right on 441/peach orchard rd. Field is 0.5 miles from the turn.

1.27.2007 -- afteraction report -- a few us us met at Southern Pigs for breakfast and chowned down then headed east -- 8 of us showed up - meeting and greeting 8-12 locals. Most were near novice, but we were suprised to see the field rent out A5's w/ 3K HPA tanks- not bad at all for rentals.

The priced were $5 entry + $4/fill -- $50 for white box PMI stinger, and $60/case for PMI tourney paint - no complaints on the tourney paint -

The pro shop seemed to have a tough time filling HPA past 2K, but CO2 services were fine.

The field played fun, and we played some good kick-the-can games w/ endless spawn for the attackers. All in all a pretty good day.

AERION ADDS : Palmetto Paintball was a well run place. The owner (Tray) was polite and things ran pretty smoothly. There were approximately 20 players there including our 8. Prices were reasonable. Field fees were $5 without rental and their premium paint (PMI) was $60 per case. HPA fills were the standard $1 per 1000psi. HPA fills came from a set of 3 HP scuba tanks. Surprisingly, rentals were new Tippmann A-5 markers with 68-3000 HPA steel tanks.

The players there were pretty good players. Most of the players used rental markers so we initially underestimated their ability. Every game we played was competitive.

The best field was their railroad ties field. It's essentially a super sized speedball field that uses railroad ties stacked to form walls as bunkers. There was very little woods for woods ball. The owner claimed there was more land available for woods ball play but it wasn't made available to us.

Overall, I liked the place but the small size and lack of woods to play in means I won't be playing there on a weekly basis. But it will be a nice change up field to go to occasionally.

DREW adds : Im in concurence with mike on most things and dont feel the need to rehash. It was the effervesance of the staff that made this field good. And it was a moderately good small field. And that is a solid reputation- but not quite enough to get me there on a regular basis.
